He said that all sorts of vehicles will be featured in the Cruise Nights, including hot rods, imports, antiques, classic cars, trucks and muscle cars beginning at 630p.m. Power for Kim’s truck originates from a “ZZ4” 350-cubic-inch V8 rated at 385 horsepower, and a 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission power to the rear wheels through a 3.88-geared limited-slip rear end. Features include a Heidts front end, Koa wood bed planks, Dakota digital gauges, an Alpine sound system, ostrich upholstery, and a powder-coated frame. Kim’s truck is a work of art, and it drew a crowd throughout the day at the fairgrounds.
The three day event is held at Logan/Cache Fairgrounds, the first Saturday in July. The Cache Valley Cruise-In has been gaining in popularity and attendance because of the quality of the show cars and the giveaway cars. The giveaway car is a year-long project undertaken by the Cache Valley Cruising Association and sponsored by many businesses both local and national. Proceeds from the show go toward the next year’s show, next years project car, and other club activities.

Originally, the parade was organized to make the thousands of cars cruising up and down Main Street easier to manage, Douglas said. Larin Lind stands next to his 1950 Chevy pickup truck which has been customized and will be in this weekend’s Cruise-In car show. Karen Higley said her family liked the wide assortment of vehicles in the parade. Previously longtime Wellsville residents, Higley, her husband, Jeremy and their children now live in North Logan as they build a home in Preston.

The organization would like to encourage people to do more than watch the parade, they would like to see people come see the cars and talk to the car owners. People will get a chance to hear, see and smell the rubber as the tires spin on the pavement and feel the smoke in their face.
Everything they’ve done in the past will be the same this year. They will take a vote in August to see if they are going to have a parade again or not. The group would like to keep the tradition going for many reasons, including the support they get from over 45 local families who volunteer every year. Dave Harrison, a 37-year member of the Cache Valley Cruise-In and the one who answers the phone for the group, said he’s had calls from surrounding states wondering if they were going to have a Cruise-In this year.

Douglas said patrons can also see “impressive,” high-end cars at the “Top Rod” car showings this year — including a pair of rare Bentleys owned by Glenn Beck. Douglas said Beck reached out around three weeks ago about participating in the event. This car is equipped with the LT1, 5.7L multi-port fuel injection motor, giving 300 hp and 340 lb.-ft.
